What can I say about Pat? He was a great guide. He made my trip enjoyable and if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have got my bear. He was very knowledgeable in the area we were hunting and he knew how to approach and get close to the bears. He also was a great cook and a joy to be around. If I was to go on a float fly fishing trip, Pat is the guy I would want to go with because of his vast knowledge not only for fishing but of the area.
Thanks for everything!!

Last August I had the joy of taking a fly fishing float trip down a wonderful Alaskan river within the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge with Pat McDonough. It turned out to be the trip of a lifetime! I found his skills and knowledge in and about the wilderness to be educational and enlightening. In his teachings of some of the finer techniques of fly fishing, be it how and where to cast the flies or which patterns worked best for our targeted fish in this amazing watershed, it left me with a much better understanding and appreciation for this great wilderness and this adventurous pastime. We had so much fun camping and catching a vast number of Coho and Sockeye salmon as well as giant Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden. Ever since finding my way back to my hometown in Washington State, my thoughts have taken me right back to this pristine place and the memories which occurred there. They will be forever treasured. I cannot express my gratitude to Pat enough, and would encourage anyone with a passion for fishing areas where you see more wildlife than humans, that a wilderness float trip with FCO is the way to go, without a doubt! I loved every moment!

I had an opportunity to spend two weeks with Pat on a combination brown bear hunt and fishing float trip on a couple of rivers in Southwest Alaska. Although I was unsuccessful in taking a bear, I had a terrific time being with Pat. My lack of success certainly had nothing to do with Pat’s qualities as a guide. The bears simply did not cooperate. In my some 60+ years of experience hunting and in the out of doors, I can attest that you will not find a more knowledgeable and hard working guide. Pat is a true outdoors man of the first order and a fine gentleman. His knowledge of rafting and fishing is encyclopedic. I am very much looking forward to another trip with Pat in the near future.
